Income tax deduction from salary

288 views 1 replies

Hello,

My father gets an annual salary of 1200000.00. According to form 16 part b given to him by his employer showing the breakup of salary, his entire income is shown as basic salary. now my doubt is that whether he can claim deductions such as house rent allowance, travelling allowance, servant allowance etc even though it is not shown separetly in his form 16, but he has got bills for all such expenses.

Thank You in advance

Look the part B of Form 16 properly, you will find that basic salary is mentioned nowhere. I mean to say that word 'Gross salary' & 'Allowances to the extent exempt u/s 10' are mentioned in Form 16 part B.

If his salary structure is showing various allowances, the same can be claimed as per relevant provisions while filing his income tax return.
