You can pay in almost all nationalised / Pvt sector banks.

You can also pay ONLINE which is easier and faster.

The taxpayer can pay income tax at designated branches of banks by filling up Challan 280 or online through Income tax department e-Filing website. 

It's advisable to pay by cheque.
You can pay by cash but many bank branches refuse to accept cash for various reasons so you have to argue with them. Better pay by cheque.

Note that you can't pay across bank cash counter.

Only designated bank branches accept income tax challans .

Keep your original PAN card with you. You may require it to show to the branch.
