ICWAI Members meet

First CEP Programme of Konkan Chapter was held on Saturday 23rdMay. Topic was the one of direct relevance to Future of CMA Profession in India : Report of Expert Group on Cost Audit and related matters.

CMA Ramesh M Joshi, in his talk covered Recommendations made by the group highlighting areas that offer great scope for future growth of CMA Profession, some of them being Historical and innovative in nature, the areas in the recomendations that need to be seriously re-visited, more than one myth - baseless wrong impressions - about existing Cost Audit Mechanism that are prevalent - common in the Society and appear to have found sort of recognition or endorsement in the report, areas that necessitate careful approach in implementation, the onerous responsibility that ICWAI is expected to shoulder, necessity for defining action plan in the interim period, the criticality of time frame, and its impact on Profession, role of CAB of MCA in the development of profession etc.

He requsted the young Generation of CMAs to shed-off the attitude of indifference and aloofness displayed generally, be proactive and come out in a big way to practice the profession. He also requested CMAs to start networking in a big way to meet the situation that will present before the Profession in next 2-3 years.

He repeatedly requested members to overlook past experiences if they have been detering them from being interactive - participate in the processes initiated by ICWAI. Profession and Institute are neither at 12, Sudder Street nor within the 15 elected members /council. To bring about a Change for the better from what has been and is being experienced, the Constituents, CMAs must come out with a fresh mind and attitude and be a part of the process of Development of Profession by sharing their experiences, views, opinions sugestions etc and thus extend a helping hand to the Council.

Lest we will have to blame ourselves for whatever happens.

On the issue of E G Report the response from members in the form of their critical observations, coments etc has not been very encouraging either. He requested members to spare time and share their mind on the Portal and that will be a part of consolidation of views that will be submitted.

He requested members to submit their views to the Council AND ALSO on the Portal in Confidential Section. Members who may be unable to or who desire not to share their views on Portal should submit the same also to MCA directly. The speaker himself would be posting his submissions on Portal by June 10th or so.

Due to shortage of time, Draft Record and Report Rules could not be discussed. Members opined that an interactive program of 4 Hours needs to be arranged on this topic for proper understanding of the subject. Konkan Chapter would undertake this activity provided adequate number of CMAs are iparticipating in such a half day Program. Please confirm participation to :
