I am working in a research project funded by Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The university where I am working, does not deduct income tax from my income as my salary is exepmeted from income tax under 10(16) of IT act 1961. But, the problem is if I have to file ITR, then which ITR (ITR1, ITR2 or ITR4) should I file? I havn't found the option for deduction under 10(16) in any of the ITR form. Please suggest.

If your income is exempted, put it under Exempt income colums rather than looking for 10(16). If only part is exempt, use ITR2, head to Salary section

Ok Mr. Abhinav Nonsense, If you have any better answer, then why don't you share the answer.

Hey Mr Abhinav, why are you getting emotional. This is a public forum and you need to maintain decorum. If you have any difference of opinion, please mention it here and educate me too but do not use unparliamentary language. You should learn to behave properly.
