GST on hotel rent

In this case they have to levy the sgst and cgst.. Becaue of the place of supply... There is no interstate movement of service happened... So they shouldn't levy igst...

The hotel seems to have made mistake in charging IGST. However, having done so, the recipient of service anyway is eligible to take credit of type of tax mentioned in the invoice provided other parameters in section 16 and 17 are met.
