Is gst applicable on gold as a metal too or only on gold ornaments and jewellery?

Yes the GST rate on gold and gold ornaments is 3%.

3% GST on HSN '7108'........... Gold (including gold plated with platinum) unwrought or in semi-manufactured forms, or in powder form
