I have tried registering for fresh gst registration for a client who has started a restaurant. At the time of registering, on clicking option to go in for composition, the appropriate Service code was not getting shown in the drop down. So I registered normally.. Now after registering not able to go in for composition as last date FORFY 2018-19 is over... But I want to opt necessarily because in hotel industry the person will lose business if he charges higher gst than the reduced rate of 5%.what is the option now?

But on clicking the relevant screens, system is throwing up the message that last date for application of Composition for FY 2018-19 is March 2018 and that the option is diabled

Now, wait a minute I was thinking higher rate of GST would be applicable by not opting for composition. But circular of Nov 2017 has mentioned uniform gst of 5% for all restaurants without ITC.. So there is no necessity to opt for composition i guess... Pl correct if my understanding is wrong.
Now You cannot swift from regular to composition as Per rule 3 you can opt for the same before start of FY

if your party lost all business then other practical way is cancel old gst registration and take fresh registration as composition dealer on any other family members name..and do business as routine..
