I don't know about Ahuja but Singhania is good enough for direct tax......

Definately Girish Ahuja Sir's book is best

If you are interested in exam oriented study..

go for T. N. Manoharan..

Singhania will cover all concepts...but

1.) Presentation is terrible

2.) at end of each answer, concepts are not explained.(instead for example, they say "refer para 34" and then You have to search)

3.) the print size is very small

(about Girish Ahuja..i haven't seen the book)..

I agree with u......

But Ajay Jain Sir is far better option

GIRISH AHUJA BOOK IS BETTER , IT IS IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE WITH ILLUSTATIVE EXAMPLE.. WHICH IS BETTER FOR SELF STUDY.

AJAY JAIN SIR ALSO REFER FOR GIRISH AHUJA BOOK. I HAVE TAKEN COACHING FROM HIM FOR DIRECT AND INDIRECT TAX.

SINGHANIA BOOK IS GOOD , BUT IT HAS LAYMAN LANGUAGE WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND FOR SELF STUDY.

go for v.k.sighania is best for all level.

grish ahuja book is best

fully agreed

if u want to do reaserch than just clear ur exam, u must go for singania otherwise Ahuja is best.

there are diffrences in comcept too,  among these author. for example. in case of calculation of annual value of house property, where property was vacant for certain period and expected rent is taken as gross annual value, amount deductable  for vacant period is calculated on basis of expected rent in Ahuja whereas it is calcutaled on basis of actual rent in case of singania.
