Genuine or scam? i banking course at global banking training

Others 13674 views 16 replies

Hi guys,

I recently came across a full time course for investment banking from a institute called global banking training.

I have been offered a seat for the course. However, the institute demands an advanced payment (approx 30% of the total fees!!!) and the rest a month before the start of the course. I am skeptical that this may not be some kind of a scam.

If anyone has any kind of information about the institute then please help.

Thanks.

Dude, can't find any reference of this institute on Google....Be very cautious...sounds fake to me...D only institute with somewhat similarity is in US...Do u have d website of this institute?

Hi chandan kumar,

The website is globalbankingtraining.com.  However, i have found no reference or any review on this institute. There is hardly any open information available to make any kind of opinion.

Hi Ankit, do they provide placements after the program? I took their i-banking bootcamp last year - that was an excellent course, but it lasted only 4 days. If they provide job placements after the full time course then i would be interested.

Hey Ankit, I have been offered a seat for this course too. The program contents seems quite good, I have not heard about this institute before but one of my friend currently doing MBA from London Business School who had attended their program in London mentioned it was very good. I heard that they will have an information session on 13th April so I think it makes sense to go there and have a look.

Hi Ravi Kiran, do you know where this meeting will take place and at what time?

As per the mail I received from them, the information session is held at 13.00 on 13th April  at  Raheja Chambers 213, Free Press Journal Marg Nariman Point,Mumbai – 400021

Hi Nisha,

As per their saying they do help in recruiting and sourcing jobs after the full time course. However, it is not guaranteed and depends on the students profile and ability.

Hi Ravi Kiran,

could you let me know whether your friend did the full time course or the boot camp and did he get any placement help from them at the end of it as they claim? These guys are asking for the full payment before even starting the course and hence the suspicion.

I am aslo going for the information session on the 13th April at 1pm.  Could i have your number and contact so that  we can co-ordinate and attend the session if you dont mind. Their Ibanking boot camp is on the 12th April and i would like to see a live session also to gauge the genuiness of the institute.

I had called them once, they said that they charge 1.25 lakhs for the course.

I wanted more information on the batch composition or the work experience they are looking for. I dont know whether they would entertain analytics background.

Do let me know if your meeting goes well.

Also let me know if its genuine and what is the average work experience and education level of the candidates. Also do they help getting candidates placed. As most of us would be working professionals with decent salary packages already, does it make sense to quit and take this up without knowing the future prospects.

Need your valuable feedback.

Any updates after the Information Session ?

Also, does any anybody have any idea about their advances excel workshop that they have mentioned on their website ? I suppose its a 2 day program.

Hi friends..I got the chance to meet Dr Rana (Director) on 12th April at there Free Press Journel Office, Mumbai. I truely didn't find any fault in the person. Institute is new and they had registered in London under Green Business College in 2011 and by 2012 they will be in operational. Also they had taken few boot camps in India (Not in Large Qty). This is the first batch for the full time and part time analyst program. So i really don't know if they are geniune or a scam.

I am joining the program because of Dr. Rana's interaction rather than the brand of the institute. Also related to placements they will be giving the guidance and will be trying to place each and every one of them.

If any one have any other views and information then do share.

Hi davesh. Could you let us know whether you are joining the boot camp or the full time course??

The problem with the course if the full advance payment demanded by the institute before the commencement of even one lecture and the money to be deposited to some account in london rather than any facility for making a payment to their india office. At over  a lakh for the full time course, that is not a meager amount. Also to trace any info for the instiute seems difficult

thats y the doubts.

incase you do join the course, kindly let us know more thereby helping everyone on this forum.

thanks.

Thanks Davesh & Ankit for sharing the information.

The one concern that I had was that Investment banks mostly prefer people in the age group of 22-26 only. Age seems to be a very big entry barrier into this industry. Moreover, I'm not even from an IIT or something though I am pursuing the CFA program.

Another concern is where we start after the program. I mean, say in my case, I'm on the wrong side of 29 now. I have a very good salary too as must be the case with everyone here. Loving the investment banking career and having passion for it, will I still actually land up atleast in a relatively mid-level position rather than starting out again as a fresher.

Am I the only one with this thought? I'll really appreciate if you guys could share your details and work backgrounds so that I can determine if I'm truly up for this.

Thanks once again to each and everyone of you for sharing your inputs and helping out others like me.
