From 31 to 63 in isca!!!

I got 202 in Group 2 But Flunked due to costing, ya you heard it right due to costing, could you please share some tips to get leverage in costing, i got an exemption in DT, in costing i couldn't score even a 40,

For costing I would suggest make a bank of questions which contain all the varieties and solve them at least 3 times INDEPENDENTLY.

Search for newer questions like from RTPs , mock tests and solve them in examination conditions.

Always keep a track of your own solutions. DO NOT USE ROUGH WORK.

What I used to do was to mark my mistakes with a red pen and conceptual errors with a green pen, along with a note on that error. THIS REALLY HELPS at the time of final revision.

PLS DONOT IGNORE THEORY BY KEEPING IT FOR THE LAST DAY OR LAST WEEK. IT REALLY HELPS AS COSTING PAPER IS LENGTHY. ARRANGE SOME GOOD NOTES for it.

ALso practice OR in the same manner. It can really help you to cross 55 with ease

pls focus on ICAI module.. there is no shortcut
and please do not stop revising it. Otherwise it will vapourise.

Revise by speaking aloud - to yourself. that is the best technique.

I daily used to revise this subject. and if u have less time u can easily skip one chapter ( BUT ONLY WHEN U R STUDYING MODULE OR MODULE NOTES) I skipped chapter one - didnt even touch it. Believe me just attempt 90 marks in pure module language and get an exemption

Very true.... The only strategy to crack exemption in this paper is to study the institute's Study Module. Even I referred the module alongwith practice manual and RTP and secured 61 marks. In my case I cleared 2nd group because of this exemption as my Costing was very weak and secured on 43 marks in it.

I have one more query for nov 2014 in paper IDT , case law were from which book?

I had studied IDT case law from ICAI book , but i didnot find it exam case law from this book except for one case.

See if you closely study what ICAI says in its RTP is that not always you have to write the case law name. If you have conceptually sound knowledge, you can answer with reason . There was one question in DT I remember in May 2014 in which i wrote the concept and conclusion and got 3 out of 4 ( as per my certified copy).

Anyways the case laws were like bolt from the blue this time. They were from Bangar's book.

One more question to you Mr. Vikas, from were to practise the sums of IDT (Mostly ask Valuation) which is there for nearly 25 marks ?

for valuation questions I searched for questions rule wise, make a bank of questions rule wise by searching in PM, RTP, your class notes or reference book.

You may also search on CCI for questions.

My marks in group 2

AMA : 47 marks out of 60 attempted. Book followed :ICAI Practice Manual.

ISCA : 27. Book follwed :2 times Manish Vallecha,2 times Vishal Saraogi,2 times Institute Study Material, 1 time ICAI Practice Manual, 1 time RTP. I made special efforts for this paper but all in vain.

DT : 48. Book follwed : Bangar Quick Referencer cum Compiler.

IDT : 61.Book follwed : Bangar Quick Referencer cum Compiler. All the relevant and irrelevant case laws which came in the exam were from this book only.

 ISCA is such a pain in the @ $$ :(
