Can IT return be filed for AY 2007-08 now..?
For that matter anything prior to FY 2010-11. As per my understanding sec 139 time-bars the filing of IT returns to belated filing allowed till 2 years from end of FY. Even AOs cant accept return as per their powers..beyond this rule.
Am i right in saying so? Or officially - returns can be filed for any previous FY..
PS: IT e-filing website in the section submit return has AY listed till AY06-07 and is allowing to upload the return file.

As per 139(4) belated returns can be filed by person- for any previous year, at any time before the end of the one year of the relevant assessment year.
Eg: If a person has to file ITR for AY 12-13, ITR can be filed up to March'2014. however if Assesment is completed before march 31,2014, then such return should be submitted before completion of assessment.
