Hi,
I was working in a company in India last year 2009 and I received company shares. What is the tax rules in United States, I am yet to sell these shares, do I need to pay the tax both in India and US ?

In my opinion,
When the shares of an Indian company are sold,the income is said to arise (accrue) in India.Any income arising in India irrespective of the place of recipt is taxable in India.
Any income charged earlier is not subject to tax again.There is DTAA between India and USA so you need not pay tax again in USA.
Shares of Indian Company therefore, if the shares are sold income deemed to accrue in India and hence it is taxable in india and not in USA...(DTAA)
