Error in itr2 form of ay2018-19 xml - contains fractional values

Today (14-Jul-2018) I downloaded ITR2 Form, Filled, Validated and Generated XML.

While I tried to submit my XML in e-Filing portal, it always reject my submission with the following error:

"The XML Scheme is invalid. Please upload XML in the correct schema.

At Line No. xx : The value '98206.25' of element 'ITRForm: xxxxxxx' is not valid."

As a rule ITR forms does not accept fractional values. So I didn't entered any .25 anywhere. But I guess somewhere in the internal calculation formula, they have not done rounding off. When XML is generated, these fractional values appear, which I think is getting rejected during uploading the generated XML file..

To circumvent the problem, I edited the XML file and removed the fractions, which appeared in 3 different places. Now while uploading the above mentioned error didn't appear. But instead I got a different error stating "Invalid XML. Please generate XML again using the latest utility.". But I downloaded the version dated 07/07/2018, which is the latest version provided by IT Department.

No matter how many times I Validate the ITR2 Forms individually, Calculated Tax, Generated XML, the same error keep repeating.

Now I am stuck. There is no mechanism in the IT website to report this problem. Unless this error is resolved, I cannot submit my ITR2 for this AY2018-19.

Anyone experienced similar error? Can anybody use their contacts with IT Department to inform them to rectifiy this BUG in their ITR2 Form? (I don't know anybody.)

I have enclosed a screen shot of both errors.

Since the last date for submitting ITR is 31-July-2018, an early advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks

IN ITR FORMS DECIMAL AMOUNT IS NOT ALLOWED SO KINDLY YOU CHANGE THE AMOUNT LIKE RS. 98206 INSTEADED OF 98206.25

Hi All,

THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED! (Rather eliminated by trial and error method.)

The ITR form does not allow to enter fractional values. Therefore me entering fractional values is out of question. It is actually a BUG in the ITR2 Form of AY2018-19. The built-in formula for calculating 80GG field (in Schedule VI-A) is the culprit. Internally it is generating fractional values but due to formatting, Excel display only rounded value in the screen. But when XML file is generated, the actual fractional values appear in the XML file. This is the reason the XML is rejected in the first place.

So How to sove it?

I did solved it by trial and error method. In Schedule HOUSE-PROPERTY, in "b. The aount of rent which cannot be realised", I reduced the value by Rs.1/- at a time and generated XML again and again, until the fractional value disappear from the generated XML.

Now I tried uploading the XML and it was accepted without any problem.

It is now proven that the built-in formula for calculating 80GG field (in Schedule VI-A) need to be rectified by the Excel experts of IT Department, who created this ITR2 Form.

Thanks.

Yes, Mr. Raja, I am facing exact same problem, without having entered any fractional values in any green cells. IT Dept should not bring up these haf-baked utilities in public domain. Hope they correct the internal formula soon.

Please read again, he has not entered any fractional values, rather it is some internal calculation in the excel utility.
