Erroneous adjustment of refund against demand by CPC

Hi..I recd an intimation u/s 143(1) for AY 2010-11 indicating a tax refund of Rs 1.50 lacs. However, the CPC adjusted the same against a demand (per their record) and therefore no actual amount was received.

On verification of our records, it is found that all these old tax demands have been discharged at appropriate times (and also informed to the tax department at same time).

Thus, now this tax adjustment is unjust/ double. When contacted at the jurisdictional staff, they say that they do not have access rights to the CPC records for rectification.

What should be the way forward under online rectification?

This is one of the biggest problems faced by shifting the processing from the original wards to the CPC. Even after repeated calls, and letters sent to them they do not give proper response.

i have filed original return with cpc bangalore in which there was a demand simulaneosly i have filed a revised return also the same revised return was shifted to local income tax office and i have processed the same revsed return with local ward office and nulified my demand how can cpc will come to know about my nulified demand or whether they will adjust the next years refund with the original demand is there a link between cpc and local ward office how it works

the local ward and cpc work on same system so you not face problem in years to come..

The only remedy is to file rectification application U.s 154 online along with all the supporting documents that demand has been settled.
