Hi experts,
Ir received one sms from EPFO
Dear Employer, as per our records you have failed to remit contributions of your employees against Establishment************* due for 7 wage months. This prima facie shows willful default on your part. Failure to remit the contributions and interest due on such belated remittances within 15 days, may cause and invoke penal provisions of prosecution, complaint under Section 406 or 409 of IPC, and coercive actions for recovery of dues.

But I am already paid Direct challan of 7 month then also I got this sms...

Hi Abhishek, getting an EPFO defaulter SMS even after paying can be frustrating. Here's what you should check and do:

  1. Verify Payment Status:

    • Login to the EPFO employer portal and check the status of your challan payments. Sometimes payments take time to reflect or are mismatched.

  2. Payment Details Match:

    • Ensure that the UAN numbers, establishment code, and other details in the challan exactly match the records in EPFO.

  3. Payment Clearance Delay:

    • Sometimes banks or the EPFO system take a few days to update the payment status, especially if payments are made close to the notice date.

  4. Check for Partial Payments or Errors:

    • Verify that all 7 months' contributions (both employer and employee shares) have been paid fully, including interest or penalties if applicable.

  5. Contact EPFO Helpdesk:

    • Raise a grievance on the EPFO portal or call their regional office to confirm receipt and clearing of payments.

  6. Documentation:

    • Keep all challan receipts handy as proof of payment if you need to show them.

Next Steps:

  • If payment is verified but system hasn't updated, wait 3-5 business days and check again.

  • If the issue persists, contact EPFO via grievance portal: https://epfigms.gov.in/ or visit local EPFO office.

  • Reply or communicate with EPFO mentioning payment details and proof to avoid penalties or prosecution threats.
