The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in collaboration with GurukulOnline Learning Solutions (GOLS) Pvt. Ltd. has come up with an initiative to launch e-EDP, e-SIP & e-MSOP for students. Eligible students can now avail this opportunity to complete their EDP, PDP & MSOP using eLearning. The e-EDP, e-SIP & e-MSOP is an interactive Video-based training (VBT) with lessons delivered over the internet. Hence there is no need of physical presence of students at the venue*.

I have cleared my CS Exams in DEC 2008. since then i have not applied for membership of the institute. Now, i would like to apply for the same.

What are the formalities to be complid with to ensure my membership??

I have heard that I can claim exemption from 15 months training based on my work experience.

Please reply.

Attached are the CS regulations 1982.

Pls read Regulations 48, 51 and 52 of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982 for eligibility from getting exemption from training.

Also attached is the form for making application for exemption from training.

Also, you will have to complete MSOP and 15 days training in a specialized agency such as the Office of the Registrar of Companies, stock exchange, financial or banking institution or management consultancy firm for another fifteen days, after passing Professional Programme (Final) exams is continued.

The students will be required to complete 25 hours of Professional Development Programme (PDP). The Regional Councils & Chapters would allow the students to attend such programmes at concessional rates.

Further you are not eligible for e-MSOP as you do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for e-MSOP: A candidate occupying very senior position and who has completed Company Secretaryship Final exams on or before 01st September, 2006are eligible to apply. The decision of the Secretary & CEO whether to allow a candidate or not shall be final. .

Thank you Mr. Sanjay, That means i have to undergo MSOP as well as EDP?

First is it EDP, then practical training and then MSOP, is it the correct chronology?

Prateek Ji. EDP is to be completed before clearing the Professional Exams. So please check have you done any other program which was in place of EDP and confirm from the institute. If you have not done any other program then you will have to do EDP, 15 months traning and after that 15 days training and MSOP.
