Due to lockdown, NRI days not completed

Hello Sir/Ma'am

My brother is working on Indian flagged ship(Marchant Navy). he need 7 more days to get NRI status. his income is exempt under Sec 10 if he work 182 days or more on ship out of India, now due to lockdown he didn't able to complete these remaining 7 days. results a huge amount of TDS applicable on his income. Is there any relief or any section where any relaxation he can claim. please guide us.

Quick Summary
An individual working on an Indian flagged ship requires 182 days of work outside India to qualify for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) status and income tax exemption under Section 10. Due to lockdown restrictions, they are short by 7 days, potentially incurring significant Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). The discussion explores whether any relief or relaxation can be claimed under existing tax laws, with a suggestion to represent the issue to the Finance Minister.

I think you should tweet to our finace minister..
As per present law , you can't get relief,

you have to represent to FM
