What applies on Hotels nd Lodgings...Service or VAT Plz xplain??

service tax on services like room charges, room services, etc. whereas vat on food provided by those hotels

air conditioned restaurant are liable for both service tax and vat. as per latest amendment service tax is to be charged on 40% of gross amount whereas vat is payable on balance 60% of gross amount.
sry.... vat is payable on total gross amount
