I am filing my income tax return through online. While claiming for refund when filing return , do I need to send proper documents in support of extra invenstment with eAcknowledgement. ?

No need to attach any proofs withe the return. However keep all the investment proofs preserved with you. You may require to produce them with the AO if requried.
