Dear friends,

Last week at our accounts tution, Mr. Praveen Sharma was giving stress on the part that we should not go for tutions for all the subjects only for those in which we are weak.

So wats ur opinion regarding this.................

I dont believe in the self study part, atleast tutions mey book toh khul jata hai...................

How many tutions are u taking currently?

Please mention course level also!!!!!!!!

I take coaching for Accounts..............but all in vain.............At last, I prepare my chapters by myself.........Consequently, It's only our desire to learn anything..........We can achieve everything...

I clear all my conceptual clarity by self-study...........Coaching gets useless........I passed the accounts paper.

so, try to avoid coaching as much as anyone can..............Focus on self-study first............

If u need coaching then only go for relevant subjects only.

Hi Rahul

As a student, I attended to four subjects for Final and Two subjects for my inter (now called as IPCC). Admittedly, the current syllabus and the examination scheme looks far impressive than the one which we had in our times. (some five to 8 years back). I used to wonder, whether I would be able to clear exams in the current set up by preparing on my own. Having said that, I believe in these -

1. We can definitely clear the exams (with a rank, mind you) without attending any classes, provided we have time to devote for studies.

2. Its not a question of weak or strong. How do you know in which subject you are weak and in which you are strong without having a good look at the subject? Its about time. What you can learn by self study in 2 or 3 hours will be thrashed out in 30 minutes to one hour in the class. We are looking at "definite" gains in terms of time saved.

Therefore, ideally, if we can attend classes for all the subjects, that would fine. But here comes the catch.

1. Cost = Can you afford

2. Time = Can you spare time for classes!!! (It sounds funny, but true)

If you can afford, you "SHOULD" go for classes if you can. But going to classes can sometimes be detrimental also. Students do not read through the subjects they are not attending classes. Most notablly in MICS, Auditing and Law.

According to my opinion, we can take up tution for the subjects like accounts, costing and tax.

Rest of the theory papers self study is the best. Buy gud reference books. Take up notes and revise well.

Hi RG Ayyswariya

Why only for Accounting, Costing and Tax? Is it because you use calculators in these subjects? It is the biggest problem with the CA Students. They attend classes for these three papers because others are attending only for these three papers. At the Final Level one more paper gets added - MAFA. Why? Because every student attends these classes.

What about other papers? They are theory.  One should study at home.

What nonsense?! Care to have a look at the results,? Most, not just many, students fail because of bad performance in these so called theoretical papers. Most notably in MICS.

In the olden days, there were many B.Sc and B A Grads who had no exposure to Accounting or Costing. Hence, they used to take up classes for these papers. They were basically weak in these papers. Now it has become a trend and fashion to attend classes only for "problem" papers.

I guess, students should wake up from their sleep thinking that Theory Papers are easier, while problem papers are tough. Both can be easy or tough, depending upon the attitude of the student, and the respect he or she shows on the paper.
