Dividend is actually reward to shareholder. Its discretion of the board to declare interim or final dividend and avaliablility of funds.

interim dividend in respect of shares, is paid by a company's management in between a financial year of the company. this does not require the approval of the shareholders. interim dividend can be declared as many times if the company perceives good profits in its business in that particular year. when a company declares interim dividend in a year, it may subsequently declare a final dividend at the end of the year after finalising its books of accounts. the total dividend, interim plus final, will have to be passed by the share holders in the Annual General body meeting of the company. when approved in the AGM, it becomes the dividend paid for the financial year of the company.
