I dont think that is a right way of doing. Service charge is an income and it can not be set off against expenses that you incur as part of business.

As the effect would be one and same, show the total service charge and claim your expenes under direct expenses.

But i find no logic on doing as you said above as wat impact wil some one has by doing so !!!!!

Thanks for your reply ! I have heared that service charges amount ( 5 to 10% on base value of bill of Hotel & Restaurant ) must be distributed amoung staff only. Management cant take into company income   Am I Right here  ?    what various types of hotel and restaurant are doing they are not distibuting all service charges among staff, they are deducting ( 5% to 45 % ) service charge amount for Plate breakage, unpaid bill,( etc related with company expenses and debit value  for various staff mistakes ). and balance amount goes to employees bank account . is it right to deduct , if Yes whats the maximum percentage for adjustment  it any clear rules ? , few restauranrt deducting  5% and Few are 45% .can you please refer link to know it better and its right accounting process.

Thanks in advance !

Service charge ( like tips amt )  is additional income for employess except salary  . thus such types of deduction variances in same industries by diffrtent management, mostly staff feel unhappy.  Few company are giving at the end of the month and few are after 3 months , few are giving 50 % amount every month and rest all balance values after 6 months ? it is any clear rules given by government for distribution ?
