1. As per my understanding registeration of DS is must before signing.

Registeration of dsc is must before filing form 32.

2. if maidden name is not known u can put any name like u can write "maa" in maiden name but when u registered digital signatures again after renewal period you have to put the same name 'maa' in maiden name even if u know exact name at that time.

By this way you can registered youur dsc.

if you are not aware of the mother's maidan name, u can put any name like devi, rani or kaur etc. and there is no such requirement to put the same maidan name next time for renewal. you can put any name even at the next time u register the dsc again.

Registration of digital signature is a must before filling Form No. 32.

As for maiden name as far as i know jyoti is correct
