Can anyone clarify Dep Rate on Computer Software under IT Act. 25% or 40%?
It is included in computers or Intangible Assets.

Depreciation will be allowed @ 60% on Computers including computer software .
Sir..40% is the amended rate. Now no relevance of 60%.

*Computer software” means any computer programme recorded on any disc, tape, perforated media or other information storage device.

Software which supports Computer hardware to work properly to be depreciated at 40%. Like DOS, Windows etc. Software without which computer and its hardware can be run are to be depreciated at 25% . Ex Tally, Antivirus softwares.
