Quick Summary
A client filed the wrong Income Tax Return (ITR) and received a refund, but has now been issued a demand notice for the same amount after the revision and rectification deadlines passed. The discussion explores potential solutions such as filing an updated return under section 139(8A) or considering an appeal before the CIT(A). However, the high cost of litigation relative to the £10,000 dispute amount is also noted as a significant factor.

File updated return under section 139(8A) and pay the taxes
Can we file appeal with AO?
Appeal can be filed before CIT (A)
For 10K, it is not worth litigating
Cost of litigation is higher than quantum of dispute
