DELIVERY NOTE : DOUBT

Mahavat 905 views 4 replies

Yesterday my friend a purchased an iron from an electronic shop. The shopkeeper gave him a delivery note as bill to him. Whether delivery note is allowed as a bill? Is it compulsory to issue a tax invoice in such case? (The delivery note did not bear the VAT TIN No. of the dealer.) The cost of the iron was Rs. 700. And what is the correct procedure?

Thank You,
Regards
Devendra

DEAR DEVENDRA,

AS PER YOUR CASE,DELIVERY NOTE IS  NOT BE TREATED AS BILL AND THE SELLER HAS TO ISSUE TAX INVOICE FOR THE SAME.

IS THERE ANY CONSEQUENCE FACED BY ME IF HE HAS ISSUED A DELIVERY NOTE INSTEAD OF TAX INVOICE?

Delivery note is not  a invoice it is just issued for issuance of goods

Yes u can face problem while assessment of Sale tax, when Ito ask for tax invoice on which u have taken input.if you not show invoice ur input credit will be reveresed..

So it is better for you to ask the shopkeeper for Tax invoice

You can take input credit only on the basis of tax invoice, so delivery note is not sufficient document for input credit.
