Please help, Whether donation given in cash is eligible for deduction under section 80G

Mohit ji,

According to me, donation in cash is allowed provided certificate is obtained from the said trust.

Sec. 80G read as:

No deduction shall be allowed under this section in respect of any donation unless such donation is of a sum of money.

So, donation in kind is not allowed.

The cash payment can be made and in my opinion the limit of Rs. 20,000/- will not be attracted, as it is not an expenditure.

members, Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Here in this case receipt is a must..and for donation Rs.20000 is NA,as it is governed by section 80Gand 80 GGA.
