I have a mediclaim policy for myself, wife and my daughter for which I take rebate u/s 80D. I have also taken a mediclaim policy for my parents only and I am paying the premium. My parent don't claim any rebate u/s 80D. Can I take rebate u/s 80D for this policy also.

Yes you can only if your parents are dependent on you.

yes upto 25000/30000 as the case may be.

Yes an additional 15000/- is available for parents

15000 has been increased to 25000 in finance act 2015.

wheather parents are dependent or not doesn't matter . u will get deduction u/s 80D of IT act upto 25000 or 30000 if senior citizen.

Deduction up to 25000(fy-2015-16) for policy on the lives of you and your spouse and children. Further a deduction upto 30000 on the lives of your parents. Total 55000 (2015-16) onwards. (35000-15000+20000) upto 2014-15.
