Correction of details i.e.PAN and name in advance tax challan paid

One of my friend by mistake quoted wrong name and PAN while paying advance tax in december for AY 2020-21. Is it possible to rectify now??? what is the procedure?? please advice

There is a mechanism to correct the details of the challans entered wrong for paying T.D.S in T.D.S TRACES and as well as at Department.

In the same manner please visit nearest Office of Income Tax Department.They may help you out. Or else you can also contact ASK (Ayakar Seva Kendra).

When PAN and name are of different assessee entered in advance tax challan , it is very very difficult to correct it.

You have to follow a tough process . it's time consuming.

It will be little bit easy if anyone of PAN and Name is mis-matching

If it's within 7 days, then it can be corrected through the bank branch through which AT had been paid. or else you need to wait... the AT should not have been consumed by the wrong PAN assessee... then you can file application for correction.. but still it's a tedious and time consuming as stated by Mr kapadia
