Claiming Medical expenditure for super senior citizen father who is also a tax payer

244 views 4 replies

My father is a super senior citizen and also a tax payer as he receives family pension.  His medical expenditure is not covered under any insurance and the expenditure is quite high.  Part of his medical expenditure is claimed under 80D in his tax return.  However there is still a balance medical expenditure amount that is not claimed.  As his daughter can I claim the deduction in my tax return?  Please advice.

Thanks.

Yes you can claim Rs. 5000 deduction in 80D

Rs. 5000 would be for preventive health checkup and max Rs. 50000 would be for medical expenditure of parent.. isn't it?
