Change of firm name

can I edit/modify/change my firm name registered under VAT & CST. (I hv been registered with name Ranjan enterprise bt my purchase bills are with name of Ranjan Enterprises, would this effect my taxabiliy ) please let me know of the process to change my firm name. please reply. !!!! URGENT

Basically TIN no. does matter for tax liability... 

Under DVAT, If you want to change your Firm name, you just have to file with DVAT-07 for the amendment in DVAT-07...!!! and submit the application to DVAT Department.
