can anyone tell me who is required to get vat registration in chandigarh? Is there any vat registration threshhold limit there? or anyone can voluntary register for it ?

If one crossesthe taxable quantum ,mentioned in Sec6 of Punjab VAT Act,it becomes necessary to register under VAT law.I think in Chandigarh also the Punjab vat rules are follwed..Voluntary registration is always permitted under all VAT Acts,depending on the need for it. The threshold limit for diffrent dealers vary.For bakery Rs10 lakh,hotels 5lakh,,for interstate delars,importers,casual dealers Re1,for normal retailers Rs50 lakh,manufacturers Rs1 lakh etc.........mjk
