Tax queries 1149 views 2 replies

Hi all

I have some MF transactions in Fy 06-07 (1/4/06 to 31/3/07)

Can anyone suggest is there any capital gain calculator available which can calculate capital gains for the redemptions?

if there is any old thread pls send me the link.

I am looking for AY years 07-08 and 08-09

in my case i have few Short term  and few long term gains for debt and equity schemes.

Also  is my understanding right

short term for equity funds <12months

short term for debt funds <36 months

long term for equity funds >12months

long term for debt funds >36 months

Thanks in advance

Rajesh

Rajesh,

12 months' period is considered for all type of equity schemes to determine the nature of Gain / loss.

Currenty

LTCG from Equity Scheme is Exempt subjevt to payment of STT (deducted by MFs) and STCG from Equity scheme is taxable @ 15% (Previously it was 10%).

LTCG from Debt scheme is taxable @ 20% (if indexation benefit is availed) or @ 10% (if indexation benefit is not availed) and STCG from Debt scheme is taxable as per the normal tax rate slab in which assessee concern falls.

Dividend Income from all mutual fund schemes is exempt in the hands of investors
