Can i work as an artist after being a ca?

Hi there.

I wish to be a professional artist- creating paintings and other artwork and selling them, after I qualify as a Chartered Accountant.

Are there any restrictions to this?

Thanks!

I think your ambition is to becoming an artist but you are now at CA course. There cannot be any restrictions for creating painting and selling it.

@ CA Vivek : I'm doubtful about AFTER qualifying CA. Because I saw that :

"A Chartered Accountant in practice CANNOT: ...

... Engage in any business other than the profession of chartered accountants unless permitted by the Council. "

in the CA act.

Will creating and selling paintings count as a profession?

Dear, u like arts n u can draw and paint n sell also its your choice but at the same time u will be c.a. n pursuing either employment or practice. In both the case u can draw ur paintings at home and sell informally to neighbours n friends and formally by exhibitions, its ur choice. Adding the words 'professional' before artist doesn't mean that u are prohibited to act as an artist. Unless it comes in the way of ur professional practice i dont think that u will be devoid of doing it.

@ pradeep : thanks! that helped..
