An amount was ro be refunded but instead it is paid through challan and return is not yet filed.how can it be refunded...how much time will it take?

you have to first file the return in order to get back your refunds. I dont think there is any other way .
If you file your return now, you will get back the amount shortly. say 3 - 6 months
