To calculate the surcharge for A.Y. 2019-20, we need to follow these steps: 1. Calculate the total income: - Net income from salary: Rs. 40,00,000 - Addition under section 68 r.w.s. 115BBE: Rs. 11,00,000 - Total income: Rs. 51,00,000 (Rs. 40,00,000 + Rs. 11,00,000) 2. Calculate the taxable income: - Since no deductions are claimed, the taxable income is the same as the total income: Rs. 51,00,000 3. Determine the applicable surcharge rate: - For A.Y. 2019-20, the surcharge rate is 10% for individuals with a taxable income between Rs. 50,00,000 and Rs. 1,00,00,000 4. Calculate the surcharge: - Surcharge = 10% of taxable income above Rs. 50,00,000 - Surcharge = 10% of (Rs. 51,00,000 - Rs. 50,00,000) = Rs. 10,000 So, the surcharge for A.Y. 2019-20 would be Rs. 10,000. Note that this calculation assumes the assessee is an individual, resident, and below 60 years, as mentioned in the problem statement. Additionally, it's important to verify the accuracy of the calculation and consider any other relevant factors or tax laws that may apply.
