Hi,I am taking preparation for nov 2012 CA-IPCC exam.I am from Kolkata.Can anyone please suggest me which book I can follow for Service Tax and VAT which is a good book for self understanding and also contains adequate number of solved sums ...

AUTHOR[T N MANOHARAN] PUBLISHER [SNOW WHITE] IS GOOD FOR SELF STUDY...AND IT IS VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND,,,,WITH ADEQUATE PROBLEMS,,,IT IS ENOUGH FOR IPCC

Thank u all for ur valuable suggestions..I have heard about T.N.Monoharan sir's book that its a good choice for exam purpose ...I dont know about Saravana Prasath & G.Sekhar 's book but definately heard about V.K Singhania book on tax that it is a good one to gain knowledge ..

download notes of bhavin pathak....one of our fellow cci memebrs....tat guy is a genius....his notes are concise,well/adequately updated.....his notes were d backbone in my preparation for tax.....i scored 61/100...i placed my bet on indirect tax only.........he has notes 4 direct tax ad audit as well......do thank him.........best wishes......

Here is the link dude....bkpathak.caclubindia.com....get it from "Files" option,,,,i won't recommend for VAT, but good for DT & ST (revision)

Rajarshi.... if too studied in kol, i reffered Soni sir's notes..... check out @ vsclases.com...FREE (contains whole IDT)

For Tax...,I would suggest ..,T. N. Manoharan is the best.
