Hi,

I am giving my CA final Group-II exams in Nov'12 , I am following  Dr.Vinod sir's  book for DT in which there are so may case laws referred under different section. My question with reference to the above is how to prepare this case laws in exam point of view?( Since there are 1000's of cases referred in this book) I heard that preparing  Dr.Vinod sir's  book will take lot of time( I also experienced in PCC) if that is the case how to speed up the preparation.

If you can list the priority  for 1-8 topics so that i can finish at the earliest which will help in boosting my confidence during preparation.

There is no shortcut to prepare DT.. Just keep on learning.. If u r studying this subject for the first time then ignore section numbers and name of case laws, try to understand requirement of each provision and ratio viz a viz facts given in the case laws.. Prepare notes for lengthy topics.. Proceed sequentially if you want u cn take procedural part first ie assessmnt procedure, appeal, authority, penalty, tds/tcs, adv tax etc... You cn also prepare non resident related provisions fist ie non resident taxation, transfer pricing... Next prepare income heads with taxation of diff entities, exemptions, basic provisions ....Al th bst.

as far as case study is concerned.....icai issues certain case study ahead of exams which are relevent.......maximum would come frm thr only.....so ignore other....

and yes vg modules are quite vast....so i would advice go for summary module of vg,practice manual and amendments......this is the moat easiest pattern ...i feel

icai issues recent case laws (selected only), one needs to remember landmark judgemnts along wth the provision....

whether ICAI releases separate book for recent case laws ? If yes let me know

Yes separate book is issued for recent select case laws before every exam.

Refer Summary module for important case laws....that'll suffice
Remember-
1. Name of case law is not as important as the content of the case;
2. Refer RTP for nov. 2012 for sure...and RTP of may. 2012 too;
3. And don't go too deep into every topic "As I did, but of no use in exams"...as this is the common problem with students referring VG.
