Hello all,

01.Please tell me whether following books are sufficient for CA Final DTL preparation for Nov 15:

TN Manoharan summary module+ Practice manual+ RTP+ case laws book

what are your suggestions on this?

How about referring to Study material?

Any other suggestions are also welcomed.

PS: I have already prepared DTL once but scored less marks in Nov 14.

 

02. Also tell me the strategy to prepare IDTL. Also how about referring to Study Material?

People say this is the subject in which one can aim exemption but it is not so. I find Excise laws very difficult.

DT : This time buy icai study mtrl...i have bought this its gud. But parallely u have to refer ur liking authors. I have G.shekar. + pm of AY 16-17 is a must + case laws book + icai supplementary book.

IDT: Icai study mtrl + bangar book + pm. Also case law n supplementary book is a must. Why am saying study mtrl, because some of the stuffs u find good in study mtrl only & also u find new things in study mtrl wch are not in authors book. All these stuffs are important.

Thanks :) I was also thinking to study from study mayerial but was confused. You are studying from it. Right? Is it cumbersome? And does it contain charts for quick recap? N how to revise from all such material one day before exams? Any suggestions on that part?

In study mtrl its gud actually but authors book also must for Dt. Yeah, am studying from first study mtrl..for example: Say section 43B..first I read from study mtrl..given point wise..then I study the same from authors books for those points wch are not in study mtrl. Why this process because this time icai mtrl for all the subjects are too gud so. Some points are there in study mtrl but not in authors book. I mark in authors wch points I have read that one only I mark it. Then illustrations with respect to that section. Once we finish one chapter, open practice manual n finish off that particular chapter. So, u can finish pm parallely. Pick case laws from case law book per day basis..like 3 or 4 or 5 per day according to ur comfortability.

For quick revision, no charts there in study mtrl. Its there in G.shekar mtrl called fast track reference(FTR).

Vinod Gupta's range of Modules, PM and Summary.. Language is very Easy to understand....

Icai book is gud wtever is given but some of the points analysis missing so for this authors book is a must for DT & idt.

About DTL

Yes they are more than enough .

Because one should prepare from the institutes material at least one ( and practice manual is must ) .

You have one of the best author so you can go with . But keep in mind that before exam you have hardly one day so you have to keep main chapters which are specifically in final course away from others .

And its better to have note for the chapters you have learnt so that you can easily revise at a time .

By referring the Practice manual , ca law book you will have certain questions which should be seen before exam . Sort them out .

About IDTL

Unlike DTL you have same strategy for IDTL , refer one reference book , practice manual and RTP and case law book .

People are right that one can score exemption in IDTL , though its lengthy than DTL . You have difficulty in excise so my adwise for same is that preapare from basic like classification , valuation , etc . once you understand all this there are main chapters like CENVAT , SSI , Warehousing . You must prepare these chapters very well as many times as possible as they are the core for excise ( for examination) . 

Apart from these you have to prepare well for service tax as cutome you have most of theory portion.

Prepare well and if any problem ask me as I managed to clear mine 2nd group because of IDTL only.

Frist of you keep faith on yourself, cool and calm not confuse ...read icai study material and practice manual make u r own short notes..supplementry also must...then finally chk with u r knw before exam with Rtp
