the best piece of advice :- how to prepare for final
Hi Ram :) I ll tel u some things which i did... it mite b of some use....
1. Dont leave anything in sfm.. Syllabus is pretty less if u ask me.. and questions come from almost all chapters..
2. Allied laws.. syllabus is more.. u can do any 6 of them and leav the rest.. but compulsorily do interpretation of statutes and competition law
3. Costing practice is very much reqd... Speed is of essence, which comes thru practice.. Qt is pretty easy.. atleast 30 marks wil b in ur hands if u master it..
4. Isca - please use the instt study material only... have heard that they prefer answers as it is given in study mat.. sad but true
5. Dt - format should be like this: i. Computation - give only the items and amounts and give note reference ii. for every item u have to give note saying why u have treated it like that..
Eg. In ur computation u ll show lik this Cash payment made to supplier Note 1 + Rs. 55000
In ur notes u ll write lik this Note 1. As per sec 40A(3) any payment in excess......... is disallowed
6. Idt - service tax comes for almost 35 marks.. dont leav it.. instead filter customs act... idt is very scoring.. 60 marks comes as practical ques.. again u should answer it as i said in dt.. i.e give the law as notes after you solution
7. For dt and idt read the case law book which is published by the instt.. and also the rtp applicable for ur exam.. read all amendments given at the end of rtp for both dt and idt...
8. May exam normally dt will have many amendment questions.. so b thorough wit that...
9. For idt Bangar book is suggested...
10. Accounts is fine wit u i guess.. u ve got 50 na... one tip would b in the holding co question and also amalgamation question - when u are giving the working notes write a sentence about what the AS says about any particular treatment...
AND most important... dont solve holding co question and amalgamation ques one after the other.. they ve similar terms but different treatments.. easy to get confused... better keep a gap of some other question in between those two..
11. Study previous 3 or 4 rtps for all subjects (except dt idt of course!) cos, of late they are asking questions from there.. around 10 to 15 marks in each paper..
12. And lastly.. Presentation Presentation and Presentation.. without this, all ur efforts are waste... Write theory paper in points.. and ur practical papers as well as dt and idt should look neat...
Hope this is of some use All the very best :)
