Hi Friends,

Professionally I am CA and cleared my CA exams in Nov.,2010.Currently I am working with medium class CA firm in Internal Audits. Now I want to do further study.I am very much interested in both Law and Finance. My friends suggested CFA as a good course to go for but such course is core finace related.Such course is only satisfying one part of my interest.I am also very much interested in Auditing.I have also heard about CIMA course.Basically I want to increase my job prospects in global arena without compromising in my interest areas. Also provide information on value of Indian CFA from ICFAI.

Friends please suggest me right course of action.

Thanks in advance.

CFA.I heard it is good but didn't know about CIMA...

Last I heard, the degree of CFA from ICFAI isn't globally recognized. I had also come across the fact that there were some court cases filed by CFA against ICFAI for awarding CFA degree illegally. Unfortunately I'm unaware of the judgement passed by court if any, in this issue.

I think CIMA is a better one...

You are working in Internal Audit

Your interests are in Law and Finance

For Law you can do CS (ICSI)/ or LLb

For Finance you can do CFA (US)

Best of Luck

Friends I am doing CS Executive level but major part of course contain law only.I need knowledge in finance part also and want degree which opens doors for me to enter international market.

Thanks in advance

Dear Tarandeep,

With regard to your criteria laid down CIMA is the best course to pursue. To consider CFA dont think of pursuing from ICFAI do it only from international institute. yes its actually a core finance degree and around 5 times tougher than C .A.The fees though is quite high for the same. Coachings are available in few cities and examination centres are located in SriLanka Thailand etc. But after doing this you would have the best degree in our field taking into account the international criteria.

hey mann..ur a CA.. dont eat all apples..or rather be slow in eating all..

firstly be specific..for which stream, u hv ur best of interest...and aptitude and want to excel in that..

CFA is hard core finance degree and require straight unconstrained and honest efforts..

same is the case wid CIMA...which is for management accouning.and costing..

Cs is a bit easy and can be done wid either of dese..

however, make sure wud u be able to give atleast 2 hrs a day for CFA .........OR.........CIMA...

CFA is rather quite tuff...and contain vast syllabus..and also very costly..as after enrollmnt, it wud require around 750-800 $ for each attempt..

and yes, it is tuff..the contents are very much familiar to you..but the question pattern is quite standard...

BUTTTTTT...if u have true interest in finance, u vl find it as heaven...after being linked to CFA socities sites and INVESTOPEDIA, u wud b able to have gained deep access to finance terminologies.

also ensure that u r havinh valid international passport for the purpose of enrollment..

Thanks everyone for your replies.. I have cleared my 1st group of CS Executive program this June,2011. I have searched much about CIMA and according to me its more or less equivalent of ICWAI in India. So should I go for ICWAI instead of CIMA and also ICWAI is cost effective as I had taken coaching of similar subjects in ICWAI during my CA preparations. Thanks in Advance

You better start a consulting firm or your own ca firm. It will quench your thirst for knowledge.
