 You need to complete 15 months out of 18, so rest three months are allowed by ICAI as leave, same in the case while writing final exam, So we can say that 3 + 3 =6 months out of 3 & 1/2 years of articleship is allowed.

 And one more rule is there that if you are working more then 35 hours per week then you should be compensated either by extra stipend for those extra hours or by leave (calculated as per the extra hours worked).
