We have to note that entry 9 of exemption notification no 25/2012 amended vide notification no. 3/2013-ST dated 8-5-2013. By this notification the words "provided to or by" is substituted by "provided to".

Hence, services provided to an educational institution by way of (i) auxiliary educational services & (ii) renting of immovable property is exempt. If these two services are provided by an educational institution, it is not exempt.
