Direct tax book - padhukas is a very good book.. decisions, notifications, circulars, latest amendments are highlighted to give importance...ICAI is testin more from practical point of view..  where one section /provision is getting over, practical questions and past questions are given imm.. it is very useful for scoring good marks in DT. U can go with guru kripa DT Book.

One should read few chapters each book and then rank each of them according to ones one comfort level in digesting ................
