I have a query. I run my own firm and we are in the business of providing services. We had applied for service tax number in 2005 and received the certificate. However, our services were run as part of educational courses, and we were exempt from charging or paying ST. However, in the last month we have started additional services which are chargeable. However, my service tax number is old. I have googled and read multiple documents, but am still unclear. 1. How do I get the new service tax number ? 2. First 10 digits are pan no, then ST, I dont understand what the last 3 digits are. Where do I get those 3 digits from ? 3. Do I have to apply for a new ST number and certificate ? 4. What is location code, range code, etc ? Where can I get these codes from ? Thanks a lot in advance for your help. Mel.

Sir, If Plant & Machinery is purchase in earlier year and depreciation is claimed as per income tax. Now in the next year, it happens that no payment is require to be made for the P&M purchase in earlier year. Can any one tell me what will be the effect as per income tax in respect of no payment to be made. Should I show the same as deduction and show depreciation claimed in earlier year as income for the year under consideration. Or is there any other way. Mail id: nishi@snkca.com Regards
