FAQ :
The AEM is part of the Faceless Assessment process, introduced to handle escalations after the Import General Manifest (IGM) number and date are recorded in the bill of entry.
Chief Commissioners are directed to monitor the AEM to ensure that lodged aspects are not delayed and that all subsequent actions are taken promptly, aiming to expedite customs clearances.
The phased implementation of Standard Examination Orders through the Risk Management System is being extended.
From 15.11.2022, goods under Assessment Group 5 (Chapter 84) will also be covered by the Standard Examination Orders.
An initial AEM was introduced following Board's Circular No.14/2021-Customs dated 07.07.2021, with an ICEGATE Advisory on 02.08.2022.
Initially, Part 1 of Phase 1 covered goods under Assessment Group 4 in all Customs Stations with effect from 05.09.2022.
