It is a scheme launched by the Finance Minister in October 2020 to boost capital expenditure by state governments, particularly those facing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An amount of Rs. 11,830 crore has been released to states under the scheme.
Approved capital expenditure projects are in diverse sectors such as Health, Rural Development, Water Supply, Irrigation, Power, Transport, Education, and Urban Development.
The scheme has three parts: Part-I for North-Eastern and hill states, Part-II for all other states, and Part-III for states that have carried out citizen-centric reforms.
States needed to carry out at least 3 out of 4 specified reforms: One Nation One Ration Card, Ease of Doing Business Reform, Urban Local Body/ Utility Reform, and Power Sector Reform.
Eleven states qualified and received enhanced allocation under Part-III of the scheme for completing reforms.
