A total of £9,871 crore was released as the second monthly instalment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant to 17 states.
In the first two months of the financial year 2021-22, a total of £19,742 crore has been released as Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant.
The Centre provides the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant to the States under Article 275 of the Constitution.
The grants are released as per the recommendations of the Finance Commission, specifically the 15th Finance Commission, which recommended Post Devolution Revenue Deficit grants to 17 States.
The eligibility of states and the quantum of the grant are decided by the Finance Commission based on the gap between the state's revenue and expenditure assessments, considering the assessed devolution for the financial year.
