Notes for Information and Guidance for Applicants

  • Online Application Form Starts at: 12:00 noon on Saturday, 03rd October 2020.
  • Last Date: Friday, 9th October, 2020 midnight.

If a candidate had registered for the practical training assessment scheduled on March 22, 2020, he/ she will not have to register again and will receive an e-mail in this regard shortly on their registered e-mail ID. His/ her admit card will also be released on October 20, 2020. Examination fee (if any) paid at that time (for re-appear attempt) will be adjusted and this will be counted as an attempt for these candidates.

Candidates are advised to carefully read, understand and follow the instructions while filling in the Form and retain the same for future reference. :-

1. Date of Examination:

23-October-2020 To 27-October-2020

2. Home Based Test:

A Home Based Test allows students to take their exams remotely, including their homes, provided it is a complacent environment. A qualified proctor monitors the candidates’ audio-video and screen share feeds in real-time sitting at a remote location.

For further clarity, students are required to go through the Guidelines and FAQs for online test.

Minimum requirements at Candidate’s End:

  • A capable device (Desktop PC or Laptop only) No Mobile or Tablet
  • Stable Internet connection, at least 1 Mbps speed (Mobile Hotspot is to be avoided)
  • An effective webcam and a microphone (If Computer Mic is not working then Candidates can plug in Earphones to their CPU but they can't wear the same and they have to keep it aside.
  • Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser compatible with PC/Laptop

3. How the application form should reach the Institute?

The application form is only to be submitted online. There is no need to submit any print out of the application form at the office of the Institute. However, you may keep the copy for your own records at least till the release of admit cards.

While filling the application form, there will not be any option to choose the exam date or time. Examination date and time will be allotted by ICAI via the admit card.

4. Eligibility

The students who have completed their 1st / 2nd year of practical training during 1st April, 2019 – 30th June, 2020 can register for the upcoming October, 2020 test.

The students who have appeared in earlier test(s) and wish to improve their performance/ grade can re-appear in this test. Similarly, the students who have registered for earlier test(s) but could not appear due to some reason, can also register.

Please note that this is the last attempt for students who have completed their second year of practical training during April-June, 2019. However, if a student has completed first year of training during this time period, this is the last attempt for Level 1 test and the student can appear for Level 2 test on the next occasion.

5. Mock Test

Mock Exam will be Conducted on 18th & 19th Oct, 2020. An email will also be send to all candidates regarding their schedule.

6. Issuance of Admit Card

The Admit Card for the test will be available on this portal by 20th October, 2020 and candidates are requested to take a printout of the same. No physical admit cards will be issued.

7. Details of Test

This will be an Objective Type MCQ based examination of 75 marks for 1st Level and 100 marks for 2nd Level. There will be no negative marking.

Questions on Current Affairs in October, 2020 test would be taken from the News Updates published in the August, September and October, 2020 issues of Students’ Journal.

There would be no reading time. Candidates should join the link 30 minutes prior to the test commencement time given to them, for authentication and system check. Late joining of candidates will not be permitted.

8. Grading System

Students will be assigned grades based on their performance in the assessment as below:

  • 80% and above – A grade
  • 60% and above but below 80% - B grade
  • 40% and above but below 60% - C grade
  • Below 40% – D grade

9. Examination Fee

A candidate will not be required to pay the test fee when he/she applies for the test for the first time. If he/she applies for the test for the second/ third time for improvement in the grade, he/she will be required to submit Rs.200 through online mode.

10. For any/all dispute(s) relating to the Test conducted by the ICAI, the Courts at Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

NOTE: In the event of furnishing any incorrect information / misrepresentation, the application shall become invalid and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.

How to fill up Online Application Form

Step - 1: Login to the portal

The applicant shall visit the website https://pttest.icai.org/, Click on Login link on the home page and enter his/her Student Registration number along with Date Of Birth as per ICAI records. These details will be validated with our database of candidates.

In case these details are not validated, the applicant will not be able to register for the examination.

The applicant will fill the details and upload the photograph and Photo Id. Uploading of image as jpeg / jpg files is mandatory. The size of image should not be more than 50KB. Please do not include dots in the name of files (eg. Incorrect naming A.P.Kumar.jpg, Correct naming APKumar.jpg) Click here to know more about cropping of scanned files.

Step - 2: The candidates are advised to check the application status through the link “Login” to check whether the application has been captured successfully by the portal.

11. Declaration of result

The result will be available on this portal only. An announcement will be made on this portal whenever it is uploaded. Candidates are advised in their own interest to print the same for their record. No separate statement of grades will be issued.
