The ICAI President states that prudent corporate governance practices are the backbone of development and progress for any country's economic ecosystem, especially in the context of globalisation and increased societal expectations.
Key changes include SEBI's introduction of Clause 49 of the listing agreement, mandatory and voluntary codes for companies on board of directors, audit committees, whistleblower policies, and disclosures, as well as the Companies Act, 2013 which casts fiduciary duties on directors.
ICAI has established a Sustainability Reporting Standards Board to focus on sustainability reporting and consistently works to release high-quality standards and cultivate integrity and ethical conduct, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
ICAI has approved a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and a Memorandum of Understanding with Certified Practising Accountants, Papua New Guinea (CPA PNG). A Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal has also been signed.
The 'We Care – A Unique Social Security Scheme and Benevolence Program for Senior CAs' is an initiative launched by ICAI to provide continuous engagement, care, and support to senior members (75 years and above).
Candidates can now provisionally register for the Foundation Course after passing Class X examinations, allowing them to prepare for the course while pursuing Class XI & XII, thereby saving an academic session.
